Wildcats Open Spring with Seventh Place in Orange County

COTO de CAZA, Calif. – Weber State shot a final round 297 to move up into seventh place as the Van Harte Orange County Collegiate Classic concluded on Tuesday at Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club.
The Wildcats opened the tournament on Monday with rounds of 311 and 291 and finished the 54-hole event with a tournament total of 899.
CSU Fullerton won the event, shooting 870 to finish two shots ahead of second place UC Riverside and three clear of the tournament host UC Irvine, which finished third.
Ty Anderson led the way for Weber State, finishing 14th overall with a 4-over par total of 220. He opened the tournament on Monday with consecutive rounds of 74 and closed with an even-par 72 on Tuesday. He carded 11 birdies over the tournament, including five in his final round.
Matthew Wilson opened his tournament with a 78 ahead of rounds of 74 and 73 to finish in a tie for 28th place at 9-over par 225.
Bobby Kincaid finished in 39th place with a 15-over par 231 on rounds of 77, 69 and 85, while Cormack Goecke tied for 48th place at 237 on rounds of 82, 80 and 75. Luke Smith finished in 50th place at 238 on rounds of 87, 74 and 77.
Peicheng Chen of St. John's took home individual medalist honors with a 6-under par total of 210, finishing two shots ahead of UC Santa Barbara's Ryan Gay.
