Wildcats Sit Third after Day One at BGSU Women's Intercollegiate

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Weber State women's team rode a strong opening round at the Bowling Green State Women's Intercollegiate on Tuesday to grab a share of third place through 36 holes at Wigwam Golf Club.
The Wildcats posted an 8-over par 292 in the morning round to grab the 18-hole lead by four shots, but the team slipped into a share for third after recording a score of 315 in the afternoon. Weber State is still in contention for the team title as the team is just two shots off the lead shared by Texas-El Paso and Abilene Christian. Sharing third place with WSU in the 14-team field are Northern Illinois and Idaho.
Isabel Gutierrez led the way for Weber State on the day, posting rounds of 75 and 73 on the 6,000-yard, par-71 layout for a 6-over par total of 148 on the day to share third place on the individual leaderboard.
Emily Song joins Gutierrez in the top-10 and sits in a tie for sixth place with a total of 151 on rounds of 70 and 81.
Cala Korman shot 73-81 to post a total of 154 and is tied for 18th place, joining teammate Sofia Fuenmayor, who shot 154 on rounds of 74 and 80.
Jade Gruher shot 80-82 and is tied for 58th place at 162, while individual Braylyn Bayer shot 85-82 and is in 71st place at 167.
The tournament's final round will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
