Threatt scores 32 points but Wildcats fall to Bobcats

Threatt had 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists to lead the Wildcats.

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Blaise Threatt scored 32 points and led the Wildcats to a second half rally but it wasn't enough as Weber State fell 74-66 to Montana State Thursday night in Bozeman. 

Threatt surpassed 30 points for the second time in the last three games as he was 11 of 21 from the field and 10 of 13 from the free throw line in 37 minutes of action. He scored 23 points in the second half. He also pulled down seven rebounds, dished out six assists, and had one steal. 

The Bobcats jumped out to a 23-8 lead midway through the first half and led 38-25 at halftime as the Wildcats were just 9 of 26 from the field in the first half. 

MSU led by 14 early in the second half before Threatt led the Wildcats to a second half rally. WSU went on a 10-3 run, with eight points by Threatt, and cut the lead to seven with 12:53 to play. WSU had a 6-0 run later in the half and cut the lead to five points with 8:21 to play. They got as close as three points on two occasions, both coming after Threatt field goals. MSU led 64-61 with 2:56 to play but went on a 6-1 run to increase the lead to eight and held Weber State to just one field goal in the final three minutes to seal the win. 

Montana State shot 44 percent from the field and made nine 3-pointers, while Weber State shot 41 percent with four 3-pointers. The Bobcats also outrebounded the Wildcats 36-32. 

Viljami Vartiainen added 14 points for the Wildcats and knocked down all four of Weber State's 3-pointers. He was 4 of 9 from 3-point range and also had four rebounds. Nigel Burris led the Wildcats with nine rebounds. 

The Wildcats continue their road trip Saturday night at Montana.
