Ogden, UT — Senior men's tennis player Tristan Sarap was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week after going 4-0 in his contests over the weekend.
Sarap, who hails from San Diego, California, went 2-0 in singles from the No. 1 position and 2-0 in doubles from the No. 3 position in wins against Idaho State and Montana State. He and partner William Zulch clinched the pivotal doubles point with a 7-5 comeback win against Idaho State in what turned into a 4-3 victory for the Wildcats.
This is the second time Sarap has been named Big Sky Player of the Week. He previously won the award as a sophomore in 2023 for his key play in a victory over Santa Clara. That year he was named All-Big Sky Singles First Team and All-Big Sky Doubles Second Team alongside partner Elyes Marouani. In his junior campaign, he was named to the All-Big Sky Second Team for both singles and doubles.
In his career, Sarap has accumulated a record of 32-35 in singles play and 36-32 in doubles play. Sarap has been a fixture at the top of the Wildcats roster for four years now with the majority of his play coming from the No. 1 or No. 2 positions.
Men's Tennis currently is 4-4 on the young season with a 2-0 mark in conference after beating Montana State and Idaho State on back-to-back days. The 'Cats play host to the Sacramento State Hornets at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28th, and the Air Force Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 2nd.
