'Cats wrap up Utah Spring Classic

The 'Cats wrapped up the Utah Spring Classic in Salt Lake on April 12. 

"We had some great performances at the University of Utah Spring Classic today," head coach Corbin Talley said. "I was really pleased that some of the guys bounced back after competing yesterday." 

Ethan Ecker recorded a first place in the javelin with a mark of 207-00 and is now ninth on the all-time list and  Reese Jones finished in fourth at 175-02. 

"I'm super excited about Ethan Ecker's javelin throw," Talley said. "He has gone through quite a bit with three different elbow surgeries. I am proud of his resilience and his attitude and it was really nice to see him get a victory and an all-time mark in the javelin. What a stud!"

Bryson Ottley finished first in the 800 meter with a time of 1:51.91, Will Luoma recorded a fourth place finish at 1:53.49, Joe Corbridge finished in sixth at 1:55.39.

"Bryson Ottley had an impressive win in the 800 meter after racing the mile yesterday," Talley said. "Alex Wheeler looked really impressive in both the 100 meter and 200 meter. He had quite the weekend getting all-time marks in the 100m, 400m and as part of the 4x100m relay." 

Parker Sagers recorded a seventh place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 14-09.00 and Cody Gehrett finished in tenth at 14-03.25.

Alex Wheeler finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 10.51 and is now fourth on the all-time list and Ryan Talbot finished with a time of 11.92. 

Wheeler finished third in the 200 meter at 21.07,  Tristan Spalding finished in seventh with a time of 21.34, Gehrett finished in tenth at 21.55 Colby Anderson recorded a time of 22.90.

"Our 200 meter squad looks really strong with Alex, Tristan, Cody and Colby," Talley said. 

Tyler Spencer led the 'Cats in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:40.17 and a third place finish and Carson Day finished fourth at 15:49.60. 

Malik Johnson finished the 400 meter hurdle in tenth place with a time of 56.46. 

The Wildcats will be back in action for the Bryan Clay and Long Beach Invitationals held between April 17-19.
