‘Cats bounce back in Cheney

Cheney, WA — The Weber State Wildcats men's tennis team ended their six-match losing streak with a 6-1 win over the Eastern Washington Eagles.
The Wildcats took the doubles point behind strong play from the duos of Connor Kruger/Ken Minh and Tristan Sarap/William Zulch. Zulch and Sarap cruised to a 6-1 victory in the number #3 position. This set the stage for Kruger and Minh to secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win in position #1.
In singles, the Wildcats dominated, taking five of the six singles matches. Jordan Coutinho, Connor Kruger and Ken Minh all continued the momentum from doubles as they took their matches in just two sets to give the Wildcats the four team points necessary for victory. William Zulch closed the day with a three-set victory over his opponent on Court #5. Theo Mottier won his singles match by retirement after winning the first set 6-2.
The Wildcats' win is the 'Cats first in their last six tries, putting an end to the streak and giving the team an 8-11 mark on the season. The Wildcats will head back up to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Portland State Vikings next Sunday, April 13th. The Vikings come into Sunday with a record of 4-12 and 0-6 in Big Sky Conference play. It will be the final regular-season match for the Wildcats as they will head down to Phoenix to partake in the Big Sky Conference tournament beginning April 24th.
