Wildcats close out regular season with 4-3 win

Beaverton, Ore — On Sunday, the Weber State Wildcats men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 4-3 victory over the Portland State Vikings. The 'Cats finish the 2025 regular season with a record of 9-11 and 5-3 in conference.
The Wildcats took the doubles point in comeback fashion. After falling on Court #3 by a score of 6-1, the 'Cats swept the remaining two matches, winning both games 6-3. Connor Kruger and Ken Minh provided the doubles clinch in position #1 while Tristan Sarap and William Zulch kept the team alive in doubles with the win on Court #2.
In singles, the Vikings and Wildcats split the six matches three and three. The two teams played gritty singles with five of the six matches going the distance of three sets. The Wildcats won three consecutive singles matches on Courts #3, 4 and 5 to take the overall match 4-3. Theo Mottier provided the clinching victory with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win in the number five position.
The 'Cats close out the regular season with a record of 9-11 and 5-3 in Big Sky Conference play. Next stop for the team will be Phoenix, Arizona, and the Big Sky Conference tournament. The Wildcats will be seeded for the tournament around the middle of the pack as they currently sit at 4th in the standings.
