'Cats Surge to 36-Hole Lead at Bobcat Desert Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Weber State shot a 1-over par score of 289 on Tuesday to move from a second place tie into solo first in the Bobcat Desert Classic at Golf Club of Estrella.

The Wildcats added to its first round 288 and sit one shot clear of Idaho and Montana State, who are tied for second in the 10-team field.

Jade Gruher backed up her career-best 69 from the opening round with a 1-under par 71 on Tuesday to move into a tie for second place overall at 4-under par 140. Gruher joins Montana State's Lauren Greeny and Idaho's Emma Kang in the tie, three shots off the pace of Idaho's Zoe Newell.

Cala Korman shot a 2-under par 70 to move into eighth place at even-par 144, while Isabel Gutierrez added an even-par 72 on Tuesday to jump into a tie for 10th, giving the Wildcats three players inside the top-10.

Emma Lillywhite followed up her first round 71 with a 76 on Tuesday and is in a tie for 14th place at 3-over par 147. She is joined in 14th place by WSU individual Sofia Fuenmayor, who shot a 1-under par 71 to move 12 spots up the leaderboard.

Emily Song shot 79 on Tuesday and is in a tie for 37th place at 155.

The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes on Wednesday.
