PROVO - It was the final regular season meet of the year for the Weber State men's track and field team as the Wildcats competed at the BYU Robison Invitational in Provo.Â
Weber State continued to improve with multiple seasonal and career bests and also set a school record as they now prepare for the Big Sky Championships.Â
The WSU 4x400 meter relay team set a new WSU school record with a time of 3:05.17. The team of Rodee Brow, Colby Anderson, Tristan Spalding, and Alex Wheeler broke a 24-year-old Wildcat record by more than two seconds.Â
The time is also the second-fastest in Big Sky Conference history and currently ranks in the top 15 in the NCAA West Region.Â
"The relay was a highlight of the meet," said Weber State head coach Corbin Talley. "Our goal going in was to get a new school record and hopefully set a mark that will get us into the NCAA First Round. Rodee gave us an outstanding start with a 46.3 split out of the blocks. Colby kept the momentum going at 47.7, setting us up to make a run at the record. Tristan found an extra gear with about 80 meters to go and ran a lifetime best split of 45.6. When he passed the baton to Alex, we knew we were in for something special. Alex closed at 45.4 to give us the record by over two seconds."Â
The Wildcats captured three more titles on the track and had more seasonal best performances.Â
Alex Wheeler posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 400 meters on Saturday in the invitational event. His time of 46.26 is second in WSU history and just .02 off the school record.Â

Noah Kjar had two PR times in the 100 meters at 10.69 and the 200 meters at 21.47.Â

In the field events, Ethan Ecker posted a career best in the javelin with a mark of 209-06.25. That mark now ranks as the eighth-best in Weber State history.Â
Jake Weathers finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 184-05.75.Â
Ryan Talbot had a career best total in the decathlon as he finished with 5,974 points. That total is currently the second-best in the Big Sky this season.Â
"We had prime conditions for our final regular season meet, and we like the intensity and excitement the team is showing going into the latter parts of the year," Talley added. "We had some outstanding RP and seasonal bests throughout and are hitting great marks at the right time of the season."Â
Up next for the Wildcats will be the Big Sky Championships, which will be held May 14-17 in Sacramento.Â
