Vissser finished 17th overall in the steeplechase at the NCAA meet.

Peter Visser concluded his memorable season at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday.

Visser finished 17th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the semifinals of the event on Wednesday in Eugene, Oregon. The top-12 finishers advanced to the finals. Visser also just missed second team All-America honors but did earn honorable mention honors.

He posted a time of 8:40.84 to finish 17th in the event. He was one of 24 athletes that qualified for the NCAA Championships in the steeplechase.

Visser qualified for the championship by finishing 12th overall at the NCAA West First Round meet on May 30 in College Station, Texas. He posted a time of 8:40.17 to qualify.

The meet wrapped up a great year for Visser, a junior from Afton, Wyoming, who competed in two NCAA Championships and set a school record.

He earned All-Conference honors in cross country and also qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Earlier this year in outdoor track, he ran a career-best time of 8:35.98 in the event at the Stanford Invitational. That time currently ranks as the fifth-best in Weber State history.

He also set a school record in the 5,000 meters this season.

He was second in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters at the Big Sky Championships earlier in May in Sacramento.
