Wildcats fall in Lincoln 1-0

Lincoln, NE - The Weber State Women's Soccer team and Nebraska Cornhuskers battled back and forth all game until the Cornhuskers pushed across the winner in the 87th minute to take the match 1-0.
Nebraska pushed the Wildcat defense all night, registering 19 shots, with 5 of them being on target. Freshman keeper for the Wildcats, Lauren Butorac, recorded saves on 4 of them, but the 5th got past her and gave the Huskers the decision.
The Wildcats dodged bullets all night, including a shot off the crossbar early in the match following one of the 7 corners that Nebraska took in the first half.
The 'Cat offense was never able to get into a rhythm, controlling the ball for just 38% of the match and registering just 4 shots, 2 being on goal.
The Wildcats were unable to register a shot in the first half, with their first shot coming in the 55th minute. Grace Kirby and Harlee Thomas were the two who were able to put a shot on target for the Wildcats.
Weber State, now 3-2, will look to regroup before heading up north to Boise, Idaho, to take on Boise State on Thursday, September 4th. That match will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
The Broncos in 2024 went 16-4-2, including a 10-0 home record. Boise State ultimately fell to the number 2-seeded Utah State Aggies in the Mountain West Championship game.
