Wildcats fall to Vandals in conference opener

Ogden, UT — The Weber State Wildcats women's tennis team dropped the Big Sky conference opener to the Idaho Vandals 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
In doubles, Jessica Hill and Aleks Bozinovska gave the Wildcats the early one-up lead with a 6-3 win in the #1 position. The Vandals tied it 1-1 with a 6-3 win on Court #2, as all eyes moved towards Court #3.
Paulina Aleksandrowicz and Nataly Valdivia Rojas battled back to take a 6-5 lead heading into the final frame, before the Vandals rattled off two straight sets and the tiebreaker to take the doubles point.
In singles, Valdivia Rojas picked up the first singles win of her young career defeating her opponent in the #6 position, 6-4, 6-2.
The 'Cats will play host to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Sunday morning at the Ogden Athletic Club. The Lumberjacks come into Sunday with a 1-3 mark on the season as they take on the Wildcats in their first conference game of the season.
