'Cats beat Bengals for third straight win

Weber State closes the regular season at Portland State on Monday night.
POCATELLO, Idaho - Weber State had four players in double figures and won its third straight game with an 83-73 win over Idaho State Saturday afternoon in Reed Gym. WSU has won five of its last six games. Â
Weber State is now 10-7 in Big Sky play with one game remaining in the regular season, Monday night at Portland State.Â
Entering the last game of the season, the Wildcats are tied for fourth in the league standings with Montana, but WSU could still finish anywhere from a tie for second to sixth in the conference tournament seeding.Â
In Saturday's win, Weber State shot 51 percent from the field and held the Bengals to 39 percent shooting. WSU outrebounded the Bengals 37-35 and was 15 of 19 from the free throw line.Â
The Wildcats had a 15-6 run late in the first half and took an 11-point lead at 38-27 with under a minute to play in the half. WSU led 38-32 at the break.Â
WSU started the second half on a 14-4 run and took a 15-point lead four minutes into the half. The lead was never less than nine points the rest of the game.Â
Tijan Saine Jr. led the Wildcats with 24 points and also dished out four assists. It was his 14th time scoring 20 or more points this season.Â
Viljami Vartiainen added 16 points and made four 3-pointers, along with six rebounds.Â
Trevor Hennig had 13 points off the bench, and Nigel Burris had 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.Â
Monday's game at Portland State will tipoff at 7 p.m. Pacific time (8 MT) on ESPN+.
The Big Sky Tournament will be held March 7-11 in Boise, Idaho.Â
