Wildcats defeat Sunbirds in Fresno

Fresno, CA — The Weber State Wildcats women's tennis team defeated the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 4-3 in Fresno, California, to pick up their first win of the season.
In doubles, the Sunbirds took two out of the three matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Fresno Pacific took the match on Court #1, 6-4, and on Court #2, 6-3.
In singles, the Wildcats took four of the six matches to clinch the overall match 4-3. Paulina Aleksandrowicz, Aleks Bozinovska, and Nataly Valdivia Rojas all took their singles matches in straight sets.
Naomi Johnson clinched the match for the Wildcats after battling back from a 7-6 (7-5) first-set defeat. She took the following two frames by a score of 6-2, 6-4 to give the Wildcats the 4-3 victory.
The 'Cats will continue their weekend in Fresno as they will take on CSUN on Saturday afternoon and Fresno State on Sunday. The 'Cats will take the court at 1:00 p.m. (P.T.) on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. (P.T.) on Sunday.
