Jenks set a freshman record and ran the second-fastest time in WSU history in the 800 meters.

After a record-setting performance, Weber State freshman Colby Jenks has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week. He earned the honor after his performance in the 800 meters at the BYU Robison Invitational last week in Provo.

Jenks, a native of Big Piney, Wyoming, broke the Weber State freshman record and has the second-fastest time in the 800 meters in WSU history when he posted a time of 1:47.69 in the event. That time is the best 800-meter run at Weber State in 50 years and is the second-fastest in WSU history. His time is less than a second off the school record set by Dan Dean in 1975, the longest-standing current WSU school record.

Jenks' time is currently the third-best in the Big Sky Conference this season and will qualify him for the NCAA West First Round meet.

The Wildcats will next be in action at the 2026 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held May 13-16 in Portland, Oregon.
