In July 2023, the ten-time Big Sky Conference softball champion Weber State Wildcats and head coach Mary Kay Amicone announced the promotion of Emilee Erickson to Assistant Coach.
"I'm very excited to promote Coach Erickson to our coaching staff," Coach Amicone mentioned of Erickson's promotion. "She has a passion and drive for developing catchers, infielders, and hitters. She exemplifies our Wildcat softball culture in every way. I love her energy and competitive spirit."
Erickson spent the past two seasons on staff as a Graduate Assistant and was with the team during WSU's historic 2022 season in which the Wildcats won both the regular season and Big Sky Tournament titles en route to advancing to their fourth NCAA Regional.
As a student-athlete, Erickson played catcher and third base at BYU where her teams won the WCC Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Regionals every year she played. She graduated from BYU with a Bachelors Degree in Sports Journalism and recently earned her Masters Degree in Education at Weber State.
"I learned a tremendous amount the past two years working as the Graduate Assistant and I am ecstatic to be promoted to Assistant Coach," Erickson stated. "I'm beyond grateful to Mary Kay, Coach (Kristin) Delahoussaye, and Kevin Jensen for their mentorship. They have built me into a better person and coach and continue to do so. It's a privilege to be on their staff."
Erickson has a great love for the program, the people, and is excited to help continue building the Wildcat softball program. The Phoenix, Arizona native comes from an athletic family with three of her siblings also participating in NCAA Athletics. Her brother, Brendon, played baseball at BYU while her two younger sisters currently play softball. Kaylee plays for Utah State and Jocelyn plays for the University of Florida.
