Former Weber State All-American and school record holder Tawnie Moore is in her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Weber State men’s and women’s track and field teams. Moore coaches the sprints, hurdles and multis for the Wildcats.
After working two years as a part-time assistant coach, she was named a full-time assistant coach in July 2024.
She has coached eleven Big Sky Champions, ten school record holders and nine NCAA West First Round qualifiers in the hurdles, sprints, and jumping events.
Moore has also coached multiple athletes to top-three finishes in multiple conference championships. In 2025, she coached Alex Wheeler to win the Big Sky title in the indoor 200 meters. Wheeler holds the Weber State indoor track record in the 200 meters, with a time of 21.16. During the 2025 indoor season, she also coached Rodee Brow, Bryson Ottley, Henry Prusse, Angelyca Chapman, and Eliza Smith to hit new Weber State all time marks in the 400, 800, 600, 200 and 60 hurdles, respectively. During the 2025 outdoor season, she coached Rodee Brow, Alex Wheeler, Colby Anderson, Orion Barger, and Tristan Spalding to a new school record of 3:05.17 in the men's 4x400 (breaking the previous 24 year old record by two seconds) and qualifying for the regional NCAA first round in College Station, Texas. During that season, she also coached four all-time marks in various sprint and hurdle events.
Moore is an Ogden area native and was an All-American at Weber State during her career from 2014-19.
She was a four-time Big Sky Champion and holds two Weber State school records and one Big Sky Conference record.
She earned second-team All-America honors during the 2019 outdoor track season by finishing 11th in the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships. She became the first Weber State athlete ever (male or female) to earn All-America honors in a hurdles event. At the NCAA meet, she broke her own Big Sky Conference and WSU school record in the event with a time of 13.03.
Moore captured four Big Sky Championships during her career. She was a two-time champion in the 100-meter hurdles, winning in 2017 and 2019. At the 2019 meet, she set a conference championship record with a time of 13.11. She also placed twice in the 200 meters at the outdoor championships.
In indoor track, she twice won the Big Sky title in the 60-meter hurdles, capturing the conference title in 2016 and 2017.
She is currently Weber State’s school record holder in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.32, which ranks third in Big Sky history.
Following her Wildcat career, she was a professional hurdler for four years and qualified for the 2020 US Olympic Trials.
Moore earned a master’s degree in Professional Communication from Weber State in April 2019. As a senior, she was named the Big Sky Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was also an honor society member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Lambda Pi Eta and was a National Society of Leadership and Success member.
She graduated from Fremont High School where she earned All-State honors three straight years.
