Tim Crompton is in his fifth year as the Director of Athletics at Weber State University. He was named Athletic Director in December 2019 after serving as Interim Athletic Director since May 2019.Â
Under Crompton's leadership, Weber State has won two Big Sky Presidents' Cup awards, winning in 2019 and 2024. He has also overseen multiple Big Sky Championships from several sports and has been instrumental in multiple facility upgrades and staff growth at Weber State.Â
In his first year as Athletic Director, Weber State captured the Big Sky Presidents' Cup in July 2019. In addition, WSU football won its third-straight Big Sky title and advanced to the FCS Playoffs for the fourth-straight year. The Wildcat volleyball team advanced to the finals of the Big Sky Tournament and the NIVC postseason tournament. WSU cross country had three student-athletes compete at the NCAA Championships with Christian Allen finishing 14th overall to earn All-America honors.Â
Crompton also helped guide Wildcat Athletics through the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
In his second-season, the Wildcat football team repeated as Big Sky Champions. WSU volleyball won the Big Sky title in 2020 and 2021 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2020, including winning a first-round game in the tournament. Weber State softball also won the Big Sky regular season title in 2021. In 2022, the Weber State women's tennis, men's golf and softball teams all captured Big Sky titles.Â
In July 2024, Weber State again won the Big Sky Presidents' Cup, winning for the sixth time in school history, the most of any school in Big Sky history.Â
Crompton is no stranger to Wildcat Athletics, having served as the head coach for women’s soccer for 15 years. During his coaching career, Crompton was named the Big Sky Coach of the Year three times (2004, 2005, 2018) and led the Wildcats to three regular season titles (2004, 2008, 2018) and three trips to the NCAA Tournament (2004, 2005, 2013).Â
In 15 seasons as head coach, Crompton’s Wildcats have compiled a record of 50-47-16 in Big Sky regular season matches.
Crompton spent one season as an assistant coach with the Weber State women’s soccer program prior to becoming head coach. He was also the head coach of the WSU men’s club soccer program for three seasons and guided them to the 2002 National Club Championship. In both 2000 and 2001, his teams also finished in the top-10 nationally.
He also spent five years as head coach at Fremont High School, seven years as an assistant at Ogden High School, and two years as an assistant with the WSU men’s club soccer team.
Crompton earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Weber State. He and his wife, Dani, are the parents to two children, Chansi, who played soccer for the Wildcats from 2011-18, and Rhees.
