Jamie Martin

The 2025 season was the first year for Wildcat legend and Hall of Fame member Jamie Martin on the Weber State coaching staff. Martin joined WSU in February 2025 as an offensive analyst.Â
Martin joined the Wildcats after spending the previous two seasons as the head coach of the Ogden Jets, a post-prep school football team. He also spent 10 seasons as the offensive coordinator at a high school in St. Louis.Â
Martin is one of the greatest players in Weber State and Big Sky Conference history.Â
He played quarterback at Weber State from 1989-92 and was a two-time All-American and a two-time Big Sky MVP. He helped rewrite the record books and brought national attention to the Wildcat football program.Â
He still ranks as Weber State's all-time leader and is fifth in Big Sky history in total offense with 12,287 yards. He is also second in career passing. He threw for 87 touchdowns in his Wildcat career
In 1991, Martin won the Walter Payton Award, awarded to the top player in Division I-AA/FCS football. He is still the only Wildcat ever to win the award and is one of 10 players from the Big Sky to earn the honor. During that season, Martin led the nation in passing yards and total offense and threw for over 4,000 yards and 35 touchdowns. He set a WSU record that still stands with 624 passing yards in one game, also the second-most passing yards in a game in Big Sky history.Â
When his WSU career ended in 1992, he held 14 Big Sky single-game, season, or career passing records. He led the Wildcats to their second-ever Playoff appearance in 1991. He also finished his career as the Division I-AA all-time leader in passing yards and total offense.Â
Following his Wildcat career, he spent 16 years playing in the NFL. He appeared in 53 games in the NFL and was part of seven different teams in his 16 seasons.  Â
In 2014, Martin was ranked ninth on the Big Sky's list of the 50 Greatest Male Athletes of all time.Â
That year he also became the first athlete from Weber State in any sport to have a jersey retired.Â
He was inducted into the Weber State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Big Sky Conference Hall of Fame in 2023.Â
