'Cats Fight to 4-3 Loss at BYU

PROVO, Utah -- The Weber State men's tennis team opened up the 2008 season on Friday with a 4-3 loss to Brigham Young. The Wildcats won the doubles point to grab the early lead, but fell 4-2 in singles.
The teams of Sascha Kiehne/Fabio Mancarella and Henning Hipp/Nick Plum got the 'Cats on the board to open the match. Kiehne and Mancarella defeated Cassidy Mears and Jonathan Sanchez 8-3 at No. 1, while Hipp and Plum downed Daneil Hwang and Evan Urbina 8-6.
The 'Cats came back with wins at the No. 1 singles spot and swept the 4 through 6 spots to earn the win. Weber State got a 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 win by Hipp over Urbina at the No. 2 singles spot, while Mancarella downed Mears 7-5, 7-6 at No. 3.
