El Paso, Tex. -- Rebecca Ritchie and the Wildcat defense posted their third-straight shutout and Jessie Baddley scored her second goal of the season on Friday to give the Wildcats a 2-0 win over Arkansas State in the opening match of the UTEP Border Shootout.

After a scoreless first half, Baddley broke through for the Wildcats in the 49th minute. The sophomore forward took a ball played into the box by Ari Wood and fired a ball past goalkeeper Susan Brown and off an ASU defender into the goal.

In the 56th minute play was halted due to heavy rain and lightning. The delay lasted and hour and 20 minutes.

Wood gave the Wildcats an insurance goal in the 81st minute, hammering home a shot from the left wing off a Nicole Moore cross.

Ritchie recorded eight saves to record her third shutout in-a-row. The senior goalkeeper, and 2008 Big Sky Defensive MVP, has not allowed a goal since the sixth minute of the opening game of the year. She now has an active consecutive scoreless streak of 354 minutes and 35 seconds.

With the win, the 'Cats remain perfect on the season at 4-0, while the Red Wolves drop to an even 3-3.  Weber State will return to the field to close out the Border Shootout with a match against the tournament host-UTEP Miners on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. MDT.
