Wildcats Shutout by Lumberjacks

OGDEN, Utah -- Northern Arizona converted two first half goals and held on defensively to defeat the Weber State women's soccer team 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.
Kristi Andreassen put the Lumberjacks on the board in the 21st minute as she fired a free kick from 35 yards over the head of WSU goalkeeper Ryann Waldman for the eventual game-winner.
Chelsea Bednarz made it 2-0 for NAU in the 27th minute. Bednarz headed home a cross from Ashley Marrapode for her second goal of the season.
The Wildcats put the pressure on the NAU defense in the second half, out-shooting the 'Jacks 10-3 over the final 45 minutes to take a 13 to 9 advantage in shots for the game, but WSU would not break through. On the final play of the match, Jessie Baddley fired a shot from 22 yards out that rang off the crossbar, providing a bitter exclamation point on the match for the Wildcats.
Tori Rocke recorded four saves for NAU to earn the team's sixth-straight clean sheet. Ryann Waldman posted five saves in goal for the Wildcats.
Weber State dropped to 1-12-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the Big Sky, while NAU improved to 6-3-3 overall and 1-0-1 in league play.
The Wildcats will hit the road next week, as they travel to Montana and Eastern Washington to continue the Big Sky Conference schedule. The 'Cats will face Montana on Friday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 p.m., and the Eagles on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 11:00 a.m.
