EL PASO, Texas -- The Weber State women's softball team dropped another pair of games as they continue to find their way as a first year program. The Wildcats fell to New Mexico 8-1 before being no-hit by UTEP for a 13-0 loss in the second game.

In the morning game, the Lobos posted seven runs over the first four innings before the Wildcats finally got on the board in the top of the fifth. Weber State broke through as Abby Bowcutt scored on a double down the left field line by Aubriana Chiquete. New Mexico added another run in the bottom of the sixth for the final score.

In the afternoon game, three UTEP pitchers combined to no-hit the Wildcats over five innings. Stacie Townsend started for the Miners and struck out eight of nine batters that she faced over three perfect innings of work. Chiquete finally broke up the perfect game, as she drew a walk off the third UTEP pitcher of the day in the top of the fifth.

While the UTEP pitching was in great form, so was its offense. The Miners opened the game with a 12-run first inning, capped by a two run home run by Ashley Ellis. UTEP tacked on another run in the third as Townsend homered to left.

The Wildcats fell to 0-9 with the pair of losses. WSU will face San Jose State on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. to wrap up the tournament. The Wildcats lost to the Spartans 11-6 in their opening game of the weekend.
