RENO, Nev. -- Despite posting its best offensive effort in its last 10 games, the Weber State women's softball team suffered another loss, falling 10-5 as Nevada completed a three-game sweep of the Wildcats.
The Wolfpack jumped out to a commanding nine-run lead, scoring three times in the first inning and adding a single run in the second and five more in the third.
The Wildcats would get shutout over the first four innings, before busting out with four runs in the fifth inning. Aubri Chiquete walked to start the inning, and after Genasee Aman reached on an error, Brandi Christopher drove the pair home with a triple down the right field line.
Heather Jackson singled home Christopher, and with two outs, Britinie Hardine and Ariel Whiteman put together back-to-back hits to plate pinch-runner Kalli Randall for the fourth run.
The Wildcats added another run in the sixth inning. Chiquete and Aman started the inning once again, this time with consecutive singles. Chiquete was advanced to third and later scored on a wild pitch.
The Wolfpack matched the Wildcats with a run in the bottom of the sixth to complete the scoring.
Weber State fell to 0-18 with the loss, while Nevada improved to 10-11 following the three-game sweep. The Wildcats will remain on the road to face St. Mary's in a doubleheader in Moraga, Calif. on Tuesday, March 16. They will then head to the Springhill Suites Invitational tournament in Boise, Idaho for four games next weekend.
