GREELEY, Colo. -- Weber State dropped another pair of games on Sunday, losing 11-9 and 11-2 to Northern Colorado to fall to 1-39 overall on the season and 1-13 in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference.
The Bears opened game one with a four-run first inning. The Wildcats responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. WSU's scoring came on a two-out rally that was highlighted by a double by Aubri Chiquete that scored Ariel Whiteman and Heather Jackson.
Weber State fell behind 9-2 after Northern Colorado put up three more runs in the second and another two in the third.
The Wildcats loaded the bases with one out in the third, but only managed a single run as Linnea Ketcher singled home Jackson.
A big five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth, put the Wildcats within a single run with one inning to play. Britinie Hardine, Jackson and Ketcher all contributed with RBI doubles during the inning.
Northern Colorado made WSU's comeback more challenging with two more runs in the top of the seventh, and all the Wildcats could manage in the bottom of the inning was a single run on a solo homer from Hardine.
The series finale was nearly all Northern Colorado, as the Bears scored in every inning but the first. The game was tied at one run apiece after the two teams matched runs in the second inning.
The Bears scored another run in the third, and added a four-run outburst in the fourth to lead 6-1. Weber State got its only other run of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
UNC put the game away with a three-run fifth and a final two runs in the sixth, as the Bears improved to 16-28 overall and 7-5 in PCSC play.
