OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State softball team dropped a pair of games on Friday afternoon at Wildcat Field as Idaho State came in and swept the first two of a four-game series.

Bengal shortstop Taylor Marchione launched a pair of home runs, leading Idaho State to an 8-0 win in the opener. She hit the second pitch of the game over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead and then led off the third inning with a shot to center, starting a three-run rally. ISU then blew the game open with four more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by two-RBI hits by Megan Miller and Courtney Darby.

The Wildcats left two runners on base in each of the first three innings of the game, and added another pair left on in the fifth for a total of eight over the five inning game. Weber State managed only three hits in the game and could not make the Bengals pay for their four errors.

In the second game, the Bengals scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings, and added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh to defeat the Wildcats 5-1.  Erin Olander and Jocelyn Horton each drove in a pair of runs for ISU.

In the third inning, Linnea Ketcher singled, stole second base and was driven home by Abby Bowcutt, who singled to right field for the team's lone run of the day.

Genasee Aman (2 for 4), Ketcher (2 for 5) and Bowcutt (2 for 6) all recorded a pair of hits for the Wildcats on the day. Ketcher also added three stolen bases, giving her 16 on the season, which moves her within one of St. Mary's Michelle Mounts for the top spot in the conference. Her two hits raised her average to .405 for the season and moved her into second place in the conference in batting average, behind ISU's Marchione.

The same two teams will return to Wildcat Field on Saturday for the final doubleheader of the season. The first game of the twinbill is scheduled for Noon.
