Wildcats Fall to Brigham Young

PROVO, Utah -- The Weber State softball team dropped its 11th-straight game on Thursday with a 9-1 loss to Brigham Young University at Gail Miller Field.
The Wildcats matched its opponent for the first two innings, before the Cougars broke a scoreless tie with a sixth run outburst in the bottom of the third. Jessica Purcell-Fita drove in a pair with a single down the left field line, Caschjen Davis-Atagi doubled home a run, and Carly Duckworth added a three-run homer for three-straight run-producing hits in the middle of the inning. BYU added another pair in the fourth inning to take an 8-0 lead.
The Wildcats came back with their only run of the game in the top of the fifth, as Brooke Silva singled home Brandi Christopher.
BYU added a final run in the bottom of the frame, pushing the margin back to eight runs and enacting the five-inning run rule to end the contest.
The Cougars advanced their record to 16-14 on the season, while the Wildcats dropped to 3-16.
