HONOLULU -- The Weber State softball team opened up the Bank of Hawaii Invitational on Saturday, splitting a pair of games to move to 1-4 on the season. The Wildcats picked up their first win of the year in their tournament opener with a 7-2 victory over St. Bonaventure. WSU then suffered a 6-0 loss to 14th-ranked Hawaii to close out the day.
Against St. Bonaventure, the Wildcats scored a pair of runs in both the first and second innings, and added another three runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Brandi Christopher supplied the big hit in the second with a two-out, two-run homer, giving the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.
Symbree Minniear's double in the fourth led off a string of four-straight Wildcats to reach base. Rivers capped off the stretch with an RBI single, plating Christopher with her third of four hits in the game.
St. Bonaventure scored its pair of runs in the fifth inning as Ashley Nowak singled to center for a two-RBI hit.
Angela DeVries scattered six hits over five innings to earn the win for Weber State. Britinie Hardine pitched a pair of scoreless innings to finish of the win.
In Weber State's second game of the day, the Rainbow Wahine jumped out with four first inning runs, and added another pair in the third to power a 6-0 win. Sophomore pitcher Kaia Parnaby dominated the Wildcats, striking out 12 batters en route to a perfect game.
The Wildcats will face South Dakota State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. MST to wrap up the tournament's round-robin play. They will then play in either the championship game or the 3rd/4th place game later in the day.
