FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona took two of the three doubles matches, which proved to be the deciding point in a 4-3 win over the Weber State men's tennis team on Sunday at the Flagstaff Athletic Club.
Oliver Good and Simon Unger took an 8-6 win over Dominic Bermudez and Hugo Ramadier in the No. 1 doubles match, but the Lumberjacks scored an 8-2 win at No. 2 and and 8-4 win at No. 3 for the opening point. That point turned to be very crucial when the two teams split the six singles matches.
Unger and Good each backed up their doubles win with a win in singles to go undefeated on the day. Unger took down Ramadier 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 1 match, while Good defeated Josh Brown 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6.
Landon Barlow got the final point for the Wildcats with a three-set win over Patrick Shimmelbauer at No. 2. The freshman fell in a tiebreak first set 6-7, but rallied with wins in the final two sets 6-4, 6-2.
NAU finished off the match with straight-sets wins in the No. 3, 4 and 5 matches.
Weber State dropped to 4-11 on the season and 3-2 in Big Sky play, while the Lumberjacks moved to 7-10 overall and 5-1 in league play.
