Weber State falls to Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Weber State University softball team dropped two games to division-leading Portland State on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats fell 8-0 in five innings in the day's opener, and then dropped an 8-0 decision in six innings in the second game of the day.
Weber State managed just four hits across the two games, with junior Sarah Clark accounting for two of those in the leadoff spot. The Wildcats also struggled in committing seven errors on the day.
In the first game, Portland State scored two runs in the second, three in the fourth and then closed out the game on run rule with three in the fifth.
In the second game, the Vikings scored one in the first, one in the second, two in the third, two in the fifth and then captured the win, again on run rule, in the sixth with two runs.
Weber State (12-36, 3-15 PCSC) will wrap up its 2011 season on Sunday with two more games against the Vikings.
The second win secured the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's Mountain Division title for Portland State (29-16, 14-4 PCSC), which will host Pacific Division champion San Diego next week in the PCSC Championship series.
