HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Weber State University women's soccer team saw its three-match winning streak and 403-minute shutout streak both come to an end on Sunday afternoon.

Portland State's Amanda Howie scored from 35 yards out into the upper right corner in the 83rd minute, taking advantage of the short-sided Wildcats in a 1-0 victory at Hillsboro Stadium.

Weber State played the final 32:30 of the match with a man-disadvantage after freshman forward Mackenzie Harrison was sent off.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 4-3-0 (12 points) and into fifth place in the Big Sky Conference standings with just two matches remaining. Weber State hosts North Dakota and Northern Colorado this week, likely needing to win both matches to earn one of the four spots in next month's conference tournament.

The match between the two league heavyweights was razor thin until the ejection, with each side recording three shots on goal and the Vikings holding a slim 10-7 advantage in total shots.

After gaining the advantage, Portland State (5-2-1 BSC, 16 points) outshot Weber State 10-2.

Howie's goal was the first allowed by Weber State in 403 minutes, dating back to Northern Arizona's 39th minute goal on Sept. 28.

Kickoff between Weber State and North Dakota (0-7-0 BSC) is set for 3 p.m. at Wildcat Soccer Field on Thursday afternoon, with the Wildcats' regular-season finale set for Saturday at noon against Northern Colorado.
