LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Day two didn't go quite as smoothly for the Wildcats.
The Weber State University softball team came up short in a pair of games against CSU Bakersfield and Oklahoma during the Sportco Kickoff Classic on Saturday at UNLV's Eller Media Stadium.
The Wildcats (2-2) fell 5-4 to the Roadrunners in their first game of the day, and dropped a 12-2, five-inning decision to the No. 5-ranked Sooners.
Against CSU Bakersfield, the Wildcats fell behind 4-1 after four innings, but rallied in the fifth and sixth to tie the game at 4-4 heading into the seventh.
The Roadrunners (1-2) hit a leadoff home run to start the final inning, however, and the Wildcats went down in order in the bottom half of the inning.
Lyndsey Minnich went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Sarah Clark was 2-4 with an RBI. Clark also went four innings on the mount, scattering five hits and allowing two runs.
Against Oklahoma, the Wildcats staked out a 2-1 lead early, before the Sooners used a six-run third inning and a four-run fourth inning to end the contest early.
Minnich launched a two-run homer in the first inning to put Weber State ahead.
The Wildcats got just three hits against the Sooners (3-0).
