LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Wildcats came up a little short in their final game at the Troy Cox Classic.
The Weber State University softball team fell 6-4 to Stephen F. Austin on Sunday afternoon at the New Mexico State University Softball Complex.
Senior Lyndsey Minnich was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs, including two on a seventh-inning home run, and a run scored.
Senior Erika Dixon was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, while senior Symbree Minniear had a run-scoring triple for the Wildcats (3-7).
The Ladyjacks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Wildcats rallied to tie it at 2-2 in the third. SFA went ahead 3-2 in the fifth and then took a 6-2 lead during their half of the seventh.
Dixon singled, followed by a Minnich home run to cut it to 6-4, but that's as close as the Wildcats could get.
Weber State will return to action on Saturday for a three-game series with in-state rival Southern Utah in Cedar City.
