POCATELLO, Idaho – The Big Sky road was unkind to the Weber State University softball team.

Despite pounding out a combined 15 hits, the Wildcats dropped both ends of a doubleheader against rival Idaho State on Friday afternoon at Miller Ranch Stadium. Weber State fell 9-6 in the first game of the day, and then dropped a 7-2 decision in the second.

Junior shortstop Brooke Silva, freshman third baseman Alyson Kulp, junior catcher Desiree Mejia, freshman first baseman Krystin Kubo, freshman second baseman Brooke Ford and senior center fielder London Clarke each had two hits on the afternoon against the Bengals, while sophomore designated player Stephanie Mathias and junior Jasmine Ioane each tallied doubles. Silva connected on her third home run of the season in the first game, while Ford hit her first home run of the year in the second game.

While Weber State was able to get hits all afternoon, the Wildcats struggled to get the timely plays they needed to score runs as they stranded 15 baserunners in the two games.

In the opening game loss, the Wildcats stranded eight and committed four errors. In the second game, Weber State stranded seven and committed an error that led to three unearned runs.

The Wildcats and Bengals will wrap up their three-game series today at Miller Ranch Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
