NORMAN, Okla. – The 19th ranked Oklahoma Sooners used a huge first half run to blow away Weber State 85-51 Monday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Wildcats trailed 10-4 with 12:54 left in the first half when Oklahoma exploded for a 39-0 run over the next 11:00 of the half to blow the game open. The Sooners held a 51-12 lead at halftime as the Wildcats shot just 13 percent in the first half and had 17 turnovers.

Weber State outscored Oklahoma 39-34 in the second half and finished the game with a season-high 26 points off the bench.

The Wildcats shot just 26 percent from the field, compared to 58 percent shooting for the Sooners. WSU also had a season-high 23 turnovers, which Oklahoma turned in to 35 points. The Wildcats did outrebound OU 36-32 but the 'Cats were outscored in the paint 54-8.

“We were run over by a really good, veteran basketball team tonight,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We couldn't get anything done against them. We couldn't handle the pressure and couldn't make any shots in the first half. We outscored them in the second half which was our goal and we continued to compete which I'm proud of.”

Chris Golden led the Wildcats off the bench with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Joel Bolomboy added nine points and had a game-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Ryan Richardson finished with a career-high eight points.

The loss drops Weber State to 4-6 on the season. The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday night hosting Bristol University in the final non-conference game of the season. The Big Sky season begins Jan. 1 at Eastern Washington.
