Weber State falls 6-1 to No. 59 Utah

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Weber State men's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 59 University of Utah Saturday night.
The Utes swept the doubles matches early in the match and Weber State couldn't pick up the momentum into singles play, despite some strong performances, as Utah stormed back to claim the 6-1 win.
Todd Fought, stepped up for the Wildcats defeating Cedric Williams 7- (10-8), 6-4 in the No. 2 singles spot. Fought earned Weber State its lone point for the match. Weber State battled against No. 59 Utah but couldn't manage to pick up any more victories on the day.
"They are a very good ranked team," Head Coach Brad Ferreira said. "We did not play our usual tennis today. We played lackluster tennis in a couple spots. Fought's match was a bright spot and he played very clever tennis."
The tennis team will travel to Sacramento State where they will start Big Sky Conference play Friday. They will then host four matches against Santa Clara, Eastern Washington, North Dakota and Portland State.
