LAKEWOOD, Calif. – The Weber State University softball team dropped its final game of the weekend, falling 12-4 in five innings to Stanford to wrap up the Wildcats' participation in the Louisville Slugger Invitational.

Junior third baseman Alyson Kulp went 3-for-3 against the Cardinal, scoring twice, while junior shortstop Aubrey Whitmer went 2-for-3.

Senior right-hander MaCauley Flint (4-3) took the loss in the circle, her first in three appearances this weekend, allowing five hits and four earned runs.

Stanford took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Weber State answered back in the bottom half of the inning when freshman second baseman McKinley Brinkerhoff scored on an error by the Cardinal's shortstop.

After falling behind 5-1 in the third, Weber State pulled back two runs, with Kulp scoring on a wild pitch and Brinkerhoff scoring on a sacrifice ground out by sophomore right fielder Sara Hingsberger.

The Cardinal (12-10) scored six in the fourth to make it 12-3, with Kulp doubling to lead off the fifth before scoring on a sacrifice ground out by Brinkerhoff.

Weber State (8-7) will return to action on Friday when it takes on St. Mary's, Calif., to open up the SpringHill Suites Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
