BOISE, Idaho – The Wildcats didn't just swing for the fence on Friday afternoon, they swung right over it.

Behind the power of three home runs, including two three-run shots, the Weber State University softball rolled to a 10-7 victory over host Boise State during their second game of the SpringHill Suites Invitational at Dona Larsen Park.

Freshman designated hitter/catcher Molly Horne and junior first baseman Krystin Kubo each hit three-run longballs for the Purple and White, with junior third baseman Alyson Kulp had a solo blast, as the triumvirate accounted for eight of the Wildcats' RBIs.

For Horne and Kulp it was the second straight game the duo put one over the fence as each also had a home run during Weber State's morning win over St. Mary's, Calif. Horne, a native of Brigham City, Utah, finished the day 3-for-6 at the plate, two home runs and an RBI double, with six RBI and four runs scored.

In all, across two games and 13 offensive half-innings, the Wildcats pounded out 20 hits, with nine of those going for extra bases – three doubles and six home runs.

Weber State (10-7) rolled out to a 4-0 lead in the first behind the power of Kubo's two-out, three-run jack over the fence at left center.

Boise State pulled back one in the second and eventually tied the game in the third behind a pair of home runs of its own.

It didn't last long.

Kulp led off the fourth with a home run to make it 6-5, and, three batters later, Horne made it 9-5 with her shot to left center.

Junior right-hander Sierra Whitmer picked up the win in the circle after taking over for starter MaCauley Flint in the second inning due to injury, allowing just two earned runs and throwing two strikeouts against 19 batters. Freshman right-hander Kirtlyn Bohling close down the game, taking over in the fifth and allowing just two hits, one run and striking out three of nine batters faced.

Weber State will be back in action on Saturday, facing in-state rival Utah State at 10:45 a.m. in its only game of the day, before concluding action with a rematch against the Aggies and Broncos at 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., respectively, on Sunday.
