Weber State sweeps North Dakota 7-0

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State men's tennis team swept North Dakota 7-0 in the match Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats had a solid showing in the doubles match as all three teams picked up victories. Stefan Cooper and Sanjay Goswami took down Connor Oberle and David Bergstrom 6-2 in the No. 1 spot. Todd Fought and Jakub Gewert defeated Dustin Britton and Simon Danyluk 6-4 in the No. 2. Landon Barlow and Hou-En "Edward" Chen defeated their opponents Joe Lee and Ty Misialek 6-1 earning Weber State the doubles point.
"I was excited about our doubles play today," head coach Brad Ferreira said. "The things we worked on are coming into place.
Weber State carried the momentum into singles play by winning all six matches. Gewert took down Britton 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot. Cooper didn't lose a set all day in the No. 2 singles spot taking down Oberle 6-0, 6-0.
Reigning Big Sky Player of the Week, Barlow earned his ninth consecutive singles win by defeating Lee 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.
Shao-Po "Jack" Yin picked up his third consecutive singles win defeating Danyluk 6-1, 6-0. Fought and Chen picked up the other two singles matches giving the Wildcats a final score of 7-0.
"This week's practice has been very solid and it showed in our singles," Ferreira said. "It's good that we are peaking in time for all of our conference matches."
Weber State improved to 7-8 overall on the season and to 2-1 in the Big Sky. The Wildcats will continue conference play with a match against Portland State on Saturday.
