Crapo Leads 'Cats to Fifth at Jackrabbit Invitational

PRIMM, Nev. -- Luke Crapo shot a career-best 209 to lead the Weber State men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday afternoon at the Primm Golf Club.
Crapo opened the tournament with a one-over-par 73 on Monday morning, but shot eight-under-par over the final 36 holes, led by a second round 66, which also set a career-best for the junior from Kaysville, Utah.
Crapo closed out the tournament with a two-under-par 70 on Tuesday, finishing in 11th place overall.
UNLV dominated the tournament, shooting 60 strokes under par as a team en route to a 17 shot victory over second place Tennessee.
The Rebels were led by Kurt Kitayama, who shot rounds of 67, 64 and 66 for individual medalist honors at 19-under-par 197. John Oda (198) and Carl Jonson (201) finished second and third overall to give UNLV the top three on the leaderboard, while Taylor Montgomery tied for ninth for four Rebels inside the top-10.
Weber State's Devon Purser tied for 26th overall to join Crapo in the top-30 overall after shooting even-par 216 with rounds of 72, 74 and 70.
Michael Johnson (73-71-74) shot a two-over-par 218 to tie for 35th overall for the Wildcats, while Colton Dallimore (223) tied for 52nd and Lee Shepherd (224) tied for 59th.
