'Cats beat Vikings 73-58 for seventh-straight win

PORTLAND – Weber State won its seventh-straight game and improved to 4-0 in Big Sky play with a 73-58 win over Portland State Thursday night at the Stott Center in Portland.
Joel Bolomboy had 22 points and 13 rebounds for his nation-leading 16th double-double of the season and Jeremy Senglin added 21 points with five 3-pointers to lead the way for the Wildcats. Freshman Zach Braxton added 14 points and eight rebounds.
There were 10 lead changes in the first half before Weber State closed the half on a 14-6 lead over the final five minutes of the half and never looked back.
WSU opened the second half with a 13-2 run and the Vikings were never closer than 11 points the rest of the way. WSU led by as many as 20 points in the second half.
Weber State outrebounded the Vikings 46-30 and shot 47 percent from the field, compared to 41 percent for Portland State. The 'Cats knocked down seven 3-pointers and had 42 points in the paint.
“We emphasized rebounding all week and our team really responded to that and followed the game plan,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “The inside game was the key for us tonight. It was a team effort and I was really proud our effort all around.”
Bolomboy was 10 of 22 from the field for his 22 points. The 13 rebounds leave him 14 rebounds away from becoming Weber State's career leader. He needs 18 more to become the Big Sky's career leader. It was the eighth time this season he has scored 20 or more points.
Senglin finished 8 of 14 from the field, including 5 of 10 from 3-point range and scored 20 or more points for the ninth time this season. Braxton was 6 of 9 from the field for his 14 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
