WSU wins eighth straight 85-74 at Sac State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Weber State had four players in double figures as the Wildcats won their eighth-straight game 85-74 over Sacramento State Saturday night at The Nest. WSU improved to 13-5 overall and 5-0 in Big Sky play.
Weber State shot 57 percent from the field and knocked down 11 3-pointers in the win. The 'Cats held a 40-35 lead at halftime and started the second half on a 9-3 run with three-straight 3-pointers by Ryan Richardson. WSU led by as many as 18 points in the second half. WSU was up 16 with 6:36 to play when the Hornets went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to eight. They got as close as six in the second half before the Wildcats pulled away for the win.
WSU outrebounded Sacramento State 30-29 and finished the game 11 of 22 shooting from 3-point range. Weber State also had 18 assists and five steals and held the Hornets to just 2 of 10 shooting from beyond the arc.
Senior Joel Bolomboy led the Wildcats with 19 points and 11 rebounds for his nation-leading 17th double-double in 18 games. He was 8 of 12 from the field and also had two steals. Bolomboy now needs just three more rebounds to become Weber State's career leader and needs seven more rebounds to become the Big Sky Conference's all-time leader.
Jeremy Senglin added 15 points and had four assists. The Wildcats had 34 points off the bench with freshman Cody John scoring 11 points with three assists and sophomore Dusty Baker adding 10 points.
“Our bench was outstanding tonight and really contributed and made some big plays and that was the difference in the game,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We got off to a great start in the second half which gave us some confidence and got us going. We showed some great toughness and togetherness in these two road games.”
The Wildcats are back on the road next week for their only game of the week Saturday night at Idaho State. The 'Cats will next be home Jan. 28 against Northern Arizona.
