SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Wildcats battled fiercely, but in the end came up just a little bit short.

In a match that saw just five total shots on goal, it was Sacramento State's Adaurie Dayak that broke through in the 84th minute as the Hornets eked out a 1-0 win over the Weber State University women's soccer team on Friday afternoon at Hornet Field.

After a slow opening half, the Wildcats offense picked up the pace in the second half and outshot the Hornets 6-5. Sacramento State's only shot on goal in the final 45 minutes was Dayak's strike that would become the match-winner.

Weber State fell to 3-5-1 in Big Sky play (5-9-2 overall) and will have to win its regular season finale at Portland State on Sunday, and get lots of help from around the league in the final two days in order to qualify for next month's postseason tournament.

Sacramento State (5-2-2 Big Sky, 7-6-4) pulled into a tie with Idaho for first place in the league standings with the win.

The Wildcats' match with the Vikings on Sunday gets underway at 2 p.m. MT, and will be streamed live at WatchBigSky.com, or through the Big Sky Conference app.
