Wildcats fall to No. 24 Texas in Invite finale

AUSTIN, Texas – The Wildcats battled the nationally-ranked Longhorns from start to finish, but ultimately came up just short.

Riding a three-run first inning, No. 24 Texas topped the Weber State University softball team 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Texas Invitational at McCombs Field.

Weber State finished the three-day tournament against one of the strongest tournament fields it will face this season at 2-3, with wins over Illinois and Abilene Christian. The Wildcats are now 9-7 overall this year after three weekends.

Senior third baseman Alyson Kulp and sophomore second baseman McKinley Brinkerhoff each recorded singles for WSU.

The Wildcats will be back in action next weekend at the Mustang Classic, hosted by Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Weber State will face St. Peter's and the host Mustangs twice, along with a single game against Toledo.
