Weber State picks up 6-1 win over No. Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. - Weber State's men's tennis picked up a 6-1 win over Northern Colorado Saturday afternoon.
"This is a team that is having success against the stronger teams in the conference," Director of Tennis Brad Ferreria said. "Playing them at their home was a concern but our boys came out strong in doubles and just did not let up. It was a solid performance all around. I'm very happy with the win and hope we can keep this level of tennis up."
Weber State started the day off on a strong note picking up the doubles point. In the No. 2 spot, Todd Fought and Jakub Gewert picked up a 6-3 win over Eric Schuermans and Connor Finerty.
In the No. 3 spot Hou-En Chen and Landon Barlow continued their domination with a 6-4 win over Jacob Sheldon and Alex Clerihew.
The No. 1 doubles was tied at 5-5 and did not finish as the doubles point had already been decided.
The Bears' lone point came in the No. 1 singles match.
In singles play Barlow took down Hayden Cramer in the No. 5 spot 6-1, 6-1. Chen defeated Finerty 7-6 (2), 6-2 in the No. 4 spot.
Fought, Stefan Coper and Sanjay Goswami all picked up their third consecutive wins. Fought took down Schuermans 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 spot. While Cooper defeated Cassell King 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot.
Goswami was the last to finish in the match and defeated Clerihew 7-5, 6-2.
Weber State's 6-1 win over Northern Colorado makes them 7-6 overall on the season and 6-0 in Big Sky Conference lay The Wildcats remain atop the Big Sky standings and will next take on Air Force.
WSU will return to Ogden, April 9 to take on Sacramento State and April 10 to take on Idaho State.
