Wildcat softball falls to Aztecs Sunday afternoon

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Wildcats wrapped up opening weekend on a sour note.
Despite 14 a season-high hits, the Weber State University softball team fell 16-7 to San Diego State on Sunday afternoon.
Senior designated player Mackenzi Corta was 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored, and senior Sara Hingsberger was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Wildcats (0-4-1).
Sophomore catcher Molly Horne and senior third baseman KyRae Kogianes also recorded two hits, while four other Wildcats recorded a hit against the Aztecs.
Weber State fell behind early, but rallied with a four-run fourth inning and three-run sixth inning to make it 10-7, but San Diego State used a big seventh inning to pull away.
The Wildcats will return to action at the DeMarini Desert Classic hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nev., beginning on Friday morning against Boise State.Â
