DENTON, Texas – The Wildcats staked out an early lead, but came up just short on the road.
Junior forward Morgan Quarnberg scored her first goal of the season in the 12th minute as the Weber State University women's soccer team took a 1-0 lead, but North Texas answered with two goals late in the first half and a third late in the match in a 3-1 victory on Friday night.
Weber State (1-5-0) had numerous other scoring opportunities in a very end-to-end match, but the Wildcats were unable to punch anything else through as the Mean Green (4-2-0) captured the home victory.
Six Wildcats went the complete 90 minutes in the match.
Quarnberg's goal was eighth career goal, giving her 20 offensive points in 43 career matches.
Weber State will be back in action with its final two non-conference matches of the season next weekend when the Wildcats host Boise State at 7 p.m. on Friday, before wrapping up their pre-Big Sky slate against Arizona State on Sept. 17 in Tempe, Ariz.
