SACRAMENTO, Calif. -The Weber State men's and women's cross country teams both earned top-three finishes at the Big Sky Cross Country Championships in Sacramento Saturday morning. The Wildcat men finished second overall with the Wildcat women's team finishing in third place.
On the men's side, Weber State totaled 70 points to claim second place, defeating nationally-ranked Southern Utah who finished third. Two-time defending national champion and top-ranked Northern Arizona won the meet with 21 points.
"We knew NAU would make it a fast, hard race for the beginning, so we stayed calm and controlled. It came down to gutsy running over the final two-mile loop on the course," head men's coach Corbin Talley said.
The Wildcats had two runners earn All-Big Sky honors. WSU's top finisher was Christian Allen who finished eighth overall with a time of at 24:00.0. Allen also earned Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors. Tyson Green finished 10th overall to earn All-Big Sky honors with a time of 24:05.8.

Talley also noted "They worked very well as a group and I'm proud of the overall team effort. Every guy contributed today."
On the women's side, the Wildcats totaled 92 points to finish third with Southern Utah first at 28 and Northern Arizona second at 65.
Senior Lexie Thompson was WSU's top runner, finishing 14th overall with a time of 17:15.9 and sophomore Abby Lawrence finished 15th with a time of 17.16.6 to lead the Wildcats to a third-place finish.
The Wildcat women had the shortest spread at 15 seconds. Summer Harper, the 2013 Big Sky champion, finished 17th overall at 17:17.8. Two seconds behind Harper was Michelle Pratt's time of 17:19.1.
