Peterson was the top finisher at the first meet of the season and set a course record.

After leading the Wildcats to a team win and setting a course record, Weber State junior Jake Peterson has been named the Big Sky Co-Runner of the Week after the first cross country meet of the season.

Peterson was the top collegiate finisher and led Weber State to a team title at the Utah State Challenge last Saturday in Logan.

Peterson posted a time of 20:42.4 on the 7K course to finish as the top collegiate finisher and was more than 11 seconds ahead of the next finisher.

The time beat the previous course record by eight seconds.

Weber State defeated Utah State and Idaho State in the meet. The Wildcats totaled 15 points and had five of the top six runners, including the top five collegiate finishers.

Peterson is a native of Ogden and a graduate of Ogden High School. He transferred to Weber State from Southern Utah last year.
