Weber State to take on Montana in Big Sky Semifinals

BIG SKY TOURNAMENT HISTORY
•  The Weber State soccer team's last appearance in the Big Sky Tournament was in 2015. WSU fell 2-0 to Montana.
• Weber State has a 3-4 record against Montana in Big Sky Tournament play.
• The Wildcats have claimed the championship tournament title four times in school history with wins in 2013, 2005, 2004, 1998.
• Weber State has a 10-8-4 record in the Big Sky Tournament with 14 appearances and have scored 28 goals.

THE MATCHES
•  The Weber State soccer team season continues into the POST SEASON as WSU  earned a first round by in the Big Sky Championships and will take on Montana in the Big Sky Semifinal round. 
•  Kickoff for the tournament game will be Friday Nov. 2, at 3:00 p.m. MT in Ogden. The game will be streamed online for free at WatchBigSky.com or PlutoTV ch. 231. The game will also air on Eleven Sports.

NEED TO KNOW
•  The Wildcats are currently 9-4-4 on the season.
•  Weber State ended the season 7-1-1 in Big Sky Conference action.
•  WSU finished at No. 1 in the Big Sky Standings for its sixth regular season title in school history.

•  Montana is 5-8-6 overall on the season and 3-2-4 in Big Sky play. They are currently on a one match losing streak.
•  WSU has a 13-14-2 overall record against the Griz.  Weber State is on a one game win streak in the series.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL
WSU hasn't scored five goals in a game in 14 years and this season the Wildcats have done it twice. WSU put in FIVE goals on two seperate occasions this year. First the Wildcats put in five against Southern Utah. To finish the regular season WSU scored five against Idaho State.


WILDCATS EARN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madison Garlock earned Big Sky Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Garlock played a part in three of Weber State's four goals at home last weekend in 2-1 victories over Northern Colorado and Montana. Garlock came through with the game-winning goal in the 98th minute to hand No. Colorado their first conference loss in a battle of two unbeaten teams.

Morgan Quarnberg is the reigning Big Sky Player of the Week. Quarnberg lifted Weber State to a 3-2 home victory over UC Santa Barbara, the No. 3-ranked team in the west region, on Friday by scoring a pair of goals including the game winner in the 84th minute.

Nikki Pittman earned Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week. Pittman came up with five saves in a 1-0 shutout of Utah Valley on the road Tuesday recording the first win of the year. She followed that performance up with a career-best 13 saves, three coming in the overtime periods, of a 1-1 draw at UC Davis. She concluded the week with four saves in a scoreless draw against UTEP.

CROMPTON ALL-TIME BIG SKY CAREER ASSIST LEADER
Against UC Santa Barbara, Chansi Crompton had one assist to tie the Big Sky Career Assist Record. Against Southern Utah, Crompton wound up for a shot just outside the 18. She let the ball fly towards the net and it was deflected by Sadie Newsom, giving Crompton the assist to take over the title of All-Time Big Sky Assist Leader.

WILDCATS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Weber State came a way with a slew of awards in the Big Sky All-Conference honors this year.
WSU had NINE Wildcats come away with honors.
Olivia Glassford, Morgan Quarnberg and Madison Garlock were all dubbed to the Big Sky All-Conference First Team in their respected positions.
Goalkeeper Nikki Pittman,  midfelder Olivia Barton and defender Haley Thomas were all named to the All-Big Sky Second Team.
Shailyn Jenkins, Sadie Newsom and Mylee Broad all earned an Honorable Mention.

BARTON NAMED BIG SKY CO-NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
Freshman Olivia Barton was named as the Co-Newcomer of the Year. Barton has started in all 17 games for the Wildcats racking up 1,178 minutes. She has scored three goals and has had six assists. She's piled up 12 total points on the year. She has taken 15 shots with eight of them on goal.

CROMPTON NAMED BIG SKY COACH OF THE YEAR
Head Coach Tim Crompton has been named the Big Sky Coach of the Year. Crompton is in his 15th season as head coach of the Wildcats. This is his third time earning the award.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT - MONTANA
•  SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 30th meeting between Weber State and Montana.  Weber State trails 13-14-2 to Montana in the series. WSU is currently on a one match winning streak in the series.
•  PREVIOUSLY AGAINST
The last time the two teams met up was earlier this season when WSU picked up a 2-1 win.
•  ABOUT
The Griz are currently 5-8-6 overall on the season and 3-2-1 in Big Sky play.  They are coming off  a 1-0 victory over Northern Arizona. The Griz are on a five match unbeaten streak against Big Sky opponents and on a three match winning streak.
